Stephanie Mollet has spent a lifetime walking in the forest, usually fussing with gear,
thinking about how to use her gear differently, or wishing she had better gear – but a
newcomer to writing about gear. Raised in Montana, she spent her childhood chasing
around her parents on the ski hill while they worked on the ski patrol. By the time she
was fourteen, she was hucking cornices off eleven thousand peaks, and teaching rookie
ski patrollers how to do their sweeps.
After relocating to the Pacific Northwest and discovering the wonders of the Cascades,
Olympics and Puget Sound, she now calls the foothills of the Cascade Crest home
where she resides with her spouse, Jay, and their dog, Lucy. Stephanie and Jay spend
their weekends fishing for halibut and salmon on their offshore boat in the Strait of Juan
de Fuca.
Video game marketer by day, Stephanie is currently writing a memoir about her
experiences solving the nearly 30-year-old cold case murder of her big sister. She was
influential in pushing law enforcement to pay attention, investigate, and ultimately solve
her sister’s case. She is fearless in her pursuit of justice for women and girls in her
home state, and is working to create a lasting legacy of positive change in Montana.
Your gear can either make an experience great or tragic. I’m delighted to turn the topic
of many campfire conversations into reviews for GearJunkie.
Life is for the living. Get out there and live it.
